Where to start?

For the Civil War Film project there are several options that you can consider for your research. One level is researching the film itself (ie film criticism). The library has a couple of print sources for this, including the books "The Reel Civil War: Mythmaking in American Film" and "Gone With the Glory: The Civil War in Cinema". The database JSTOR will also be very useful for film criticism and modern depictions of the Civil War.  Primary resources from the Civil War are plentiful both online and in print. We have many battle-specific resources listed on the shelfari shelf below as well as resources like the Complete New York Times Civil War 1861-1865.
