The Art of Making a Presentation

1. Practice, practice, practice.  Your audience can tell a well rehearsed presentation. Be prepared and poised.

2. Connect. Look at your audience and introduce yourself. Eye contact is important

3. Vocalize. Use a strong, clear voice, and do not read from a paper.

4. Present Your case. Don't overwhelm with information (see below!) however you have to provide your evidence. Too much text is bad. Pick stellar images.

5.  Close. Thank your class and sit down.  There's no need to say "I think that's it" or shrug sheepishly.

5 Things Every Presenter Needs to Know About People

  1. People learn best in 20-minute chunks.
  2. Multiple sensory channels compete. Minimize bullet points and maximize visuals.
  3. What you say is only one part of your presentation. Be aware of your body language.
  4. If you want people to act, you have to call them to action.
  5. People imitate your emotions and feel your feelings. If you are passionate about your topic, your audience will be inspired.
